We love what we get to do to serve others and help solve their challenges, as well as to provide hope and transformation. We know we NEED to “market” our business, and may know WHERE or HOW. This WORKSHOP might be a great refresher – or may be brand new information – It will be immediately applicable to you and your business.

Apply these insights to both your print and online marketing efforts.

Sheryl Roush Speaks to Mensa Gatherings

MENSA: Speaking to the Brilliant

Whenever I heard the word MENSA, I shuddered at the mere thought of being in the presence of a person of such high intelligence.. let alone speaking to a large room of them!, commented Sheryl Roush.

The International High IQ Society.

“Mensa” means “table” in Latin. Mensa is a round-table society, where race, color, creed, national origin, age, politics, educational or social background are irrelevant.

Mensa has three stated purposes: to identify and foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity, to encourage research in the nature, characteristics and uses of intelligence, and to promote stimulating intellectual and social opportunities for its members.

On July 1, 2016, Sheryl presented at the American Mensa Annual Gathering, held in San Diego, with the theme of MENSA-CON (like Comic-Con), with a ballroom filled with eager attendees, ready to learn how to connect better with others. To offer perspective… there are around 134,000 Mensans in 100 countries throughout the world. The annual gathering is truly a meeting of the minds!

Now, keep in mind these are brilliant individuals, from 2-100 years old, from varied industries and backgrounds. Candidates for membership of Mensa must achieve a score at – or above – the 98th percentile on a standard test of intelligence.

Sheryl recaps, In the beginning of my presentation they each took a brief communication skills assessment (which the answer they referred to as “binary”), indicating different modalities (they referred to as “channels”).  We had a blast!

Testimonial from the event chair:
Sheryl Roush is such a dynamic and engaging speaker that we felt very lucky to have her present at the 2016 Mensa-Con American Mensa Annual Gathering. Her presentation on “7 Secrets to Connect with Anyone” was well-attended and among our top rated presentations for the conference. We were fortunate that it was effortless to work with her regarding scheduling and setup and she exceeded our expectations as an interactive and captivating addition to our Leadership Development program.
LaRae Bakerink, Chair, 2016 Mensa-Con

(Sheryl practices what she teaches, but, no, is still not a Mensan.)

February 18, 2017, Sheryl will again be addressing American Mensa at the Regional Gathering. Greater Los Angeles Area Mensa (GLAAM) is the local group for Los Angeles, Kern, Inyo, and Mono Counties, most of San Bernardino County, and parts of Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Riverside Counties. Debriefing a Workshop

After keynoting a conference held at at George Washington University a couple years ago, I stayed over an extra night, and presented a Sunday bonus seminar for attendees, on Speak And Market Like A Pro!™   Well-attended, participants chipped away at a “gold mine of great ideas” they could use in their own endeavors.

One of those exuberant attendees, discovered this Golden Nugget, and included it in his NEW book, Write It, Speak It: Writing a Speech They’ll Applaud!

Tom Pfeifer sent me a copy, with a post-it note on the pages (10-11) where he referenced that ah-ha!

“… At the end of her workshops, Sheryl asks her audience for golden nuggets–the one thing each audience member will take away from the workshop and implement in his or her own public speaking repertoire…. My golden nugget was:
It’s not about you, the speaker. It’s about the audience.

He continued, “By then, I was not only writing speeches but delivering them. I always wrote speeches with the audience in mind, but I wasn’t delivering them with the audience in mind. Now I repeat to myself before I write and before I speak: It’s about you, not me. The spotlight is on you. Not me. You’re here to learn something….”
